With Christmas season upon us and the 25th quickly approaching, it’s only natural to start thinking about presents. So, the staff at the Laker Anchor decided to poll the student body about which gift seemed like it would be the most popular this Christmas.

When the results from the online survey were tallied, with over 100 responses from Spring Lake students, the overall most popular Christmas gift was clothes, with 22% of the total votes.

Coming in close second was a tie between the new iPhone X and gift cards to students’ favorite stores, which both took up 20% of the total votes.
In third place were the iPhone 8 and a Bluetooth speaker, each with 8% of the votes.

It’s no surprise that the recurring theme in the top 5 gifts was technology. With the new iPhone 8 being released, as well as the highly anticipated iPhone X being released only a couple of months later, Apple saw a huge increase in revenue, and as Christmas quickly approaches, we will probably see another increase as people purchase these phones for Christmas gifts.

Bluetooth speakers such as the UE Boom 2 and the JBL Charge 3 are also popular items all around the country that are bought as Christmas gifts.
As always, clothing and gift cards to a favorite store are atop the list as well.

We are sure to see some students arrive back to school after Christmas sporting the ever-popular Vans, which became widely worn in Spring Lake High School in recent years.

Although these Christmas gifts would be fun to have, remember that this season is also meant for giving. While this doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy the brand new iPhone for all of your friends and family, you can always donate hats, gloves, socks and canned goods during Spring Lake’s “Deck the Halls,” which takes place Monday, December 18, through Wednesday, December 20. Any donations will be brought to the People Center in Spring Lake.
