This issue’s “Where Are They Now?” column features 2005 graduate Krishele Guzman. Krishele has been busy during the dozen years after her graduation, and today she lives in Cardiff, Wales, UK, about 2 hours from London.

After graduation, Krishele attended Central Michigan University, where she majored in Human Resource Management and Sports Management. She minored in Legal Studies. Krishele took advantage of study abroad opportunities while at CMU, and that experience has largely shaped her life today. She fell in love with the United Kingdom during her time there, and today, she calls Wales home.

Krishele is on a five-year Visa to work abroad, and in Cardiff she is the director of a company called Tumbl Trak, UK, which sells gymnastics equipment, such as tumbling mats, bars, and flooring for gymnastics, as well as martial arts, cheerleading, and dance.

The headquarters for Tumbl Trak are actually in Mt. Pleasant, where CMU is located, and the Cardiff office for which Krishele now works opened in 2014.

While she enjoys living in the UK, Krishele is all about her career and new experiences. She is not married, and she has no immediate plans to settle down and start a family.

When she was a Laker, Krishele participated in band, as well as Businiess Professionals of America (BPA). She was a member of the National Honor Society. Krishele recalls fondly the good times she had in class and at sporting events with her friends.

Before moving to Cardiff, Krishele also lived for a time in Atlanta, Georgia.

Krishele credits her time in Spring Lake with encouraging her to follow her heart to Wales. “Cardiff is a warm and friendly city like Spring Lake,” says Krishele, adding, “while at SLHS I was able to learn about places around the U.S. and the world, which started my journey.”

Krishele has advice for today’s Lakers. “Use your time at SLHS to build your foundation. Most likely the next place you’ll be, whether it is college, a job or the military, will be very different than Spring Lake. However, if you do not have a good foundation there is no point in continuing to build.”

Krishele’s brother Daniel still lives in the area, as do her mother, Debi, and her grandparents. Krishele is proud of her new town, but loyal to Spring Lake. She says, “If you find yourself in Cardiff feel free to contact me. Would love to show any fellow Laker around my new town!!”
