Spring Lake High School rolled out the red carpet for its 2016 Prom on Saturday, May 14. The event was held at the Spring Lake Country Club, and the festivities kicked off at 8:30 p.m. The theme for this year’s prom was “Lights, Camera, Action!” and the SLCC was decorated in a black and red palette to celebrate an “Evening of Couture.”
To make the celebration more classy and festive, the venue was professionally decorated and music was provided by a professional DJ. Temperatures on Saturday hovered in the low 40s, making outdoor photographs chilly and less than ideal. Despite the weather, the event was lively, with a strong turnout of nearly 400 students and chaperones, a turnout that principal Mike Gilchrist said was one of the best in recent years.
Seniors Elise McGannon and Sam Pranger were crowned as the 2016 Prom Queen and King. Elise will attend Loyola University of Chicago in the fall, while Sam will enroll at West Point Military Academy. The King and Queen were elected by their peers in the senior class of 2016.
